Earlier this month, the Rush Fifty-Something tour rolled through Denver and I was in attendance (along with my dad). I will never financially recover from this.
A photo of the venue before the concert. We were disgustingly early, but it filled up almost completely by the time the show started.
Attentive readers will know that I really like Rush. I'd even go as far as to say it's my favorite band, and I'm really bad at picking favorite anythings. Unfortunately for me, I didn't fully appreciate them until after the R40 tour in 2015, so I figured I had missed the boat for seeing them live forever (not the most devastating thing because most of the artists I like are dead or inactive anyway). But I was pleasantly surprised to be proven wrong, so there I was!
September was a busy month for sketch meetups. I went to both Boulder meets in addition to the Fort Collins one since they didn't overlap this time! I keep telling myself I'm going to discuss each of these outings in separate posts and never do, so I'm throwing them into one post so I can stop being so behind. The overarching theme was cool buildings.
I went on my first outing with Urban Sketchers Boulder since this exact time last year. I thought I would be out there more frequently considering I can take the bus, but... as usual... life got in the way. I did return in the end! The group has grown significantly in the past year, which was great to see.
I attended my first Sketcherfest in Edmonds, Washington this year. I will lead with my conclusion that Sketcherfest is the best convention I've ever been to.
I took an excellent little trip to Washington state at the beginning of the month. It's been 7 years since the last time I've been. I love the area and wanted to go back sooner, but Covid made stuff a little more difficult and then life got in the way. But I finally got around to doing it!
The primary purpose of my visit was to attend Sketcherfest, a convention for urban/travel sketchers. I will talk about Sketcherfest in its own post because there's a lot I have to say about it. I spent the rest of the time exploring and drawing the Seattle area. And I got to hang out with Curi in meatspace!
